This design is a faithful restoration of a 1921 Bolshevik propaganda poster, originally attributed to Vladimir Kozlinskii and likely associated with the Petrograd ROSTA, that's been restored, recolored, remastered, and redrawn by hand in order to preserve this important piece of history.
The text translates to: "The dead of the Paris Commune have risen again under the red banner of the Soviets!” In essence, the artwork claims that the defeated revolutionaries of Paris Commune of 1871 have been vindicated by the October Revolution, and that the martyrs live on through the new Soviet Union. Historically, the poster reflects how the Bolsheviks mythologized the Paris Commune as a heroic precursor to the Russian Revolution, presenting Soviet power as the continuation and redemption of the earliest socialist workers’ uprising. That political meaning, combined with its dramatic Constructivist and avant-garde influenced style, makes this design an interesting insight into the historical moment immediately following the October Revolution, Russian Civil War, and birth of the Soviet Union.
Note that the design has a slight skew on some products, the purpose of this is to keep it faithful to the original, which also had a slight skew.
