This is a rare poster from the Chinese Cultural Revolution, which seems to be celebrating the 1966 Wuhan Workers Rebel Army defeating counter-revolutionaries and capitalists. This poster obscurity may be due its relation to the 1967 Wuhan Incident, where two communist factions (The Million Heroes and Wuhan Workers' General Headquarters) waged an armed conflict with each other, both hoping to gain the support of the central authorities in Beijing. This sign of internal conflict and civil strife within China at the time, may have resulted in this poster being considered rather controversial, given that it is celebrating conflict within the party. The incident represented a turning point in the Cultural Revolution, as it lead to major concerns about rather or not the radical reforms were going too far and creating unnecessary strife in a nation needing stability. I have carefully restored the original poster by hand, redrawing, recoloring, and refinishing it in order to preserve this rare and seldom talked about piece of Chinese history.
